• Key Info: The Segura Watershed Processes Lab at Oregon State University is seeking two undergraduate students for a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) focused on understanding post-fire impacts on streamflow and riparian ecosystems. This project is part of the National Science Foundation Long-Term Ecological Research program at the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest. Students will participate in field-based research examining how wildfire affects watershed processes including canopy cover, nutrient availability, vegetation shifts, and groundwater flow. The project will involve weekly water sampling from 12 stream sites to analyze nutrient concentrations and water stable isotopes. Students will also gain experience assisting with additional forest hydrology research activities such as fish surveys, large wood surveys, and synoptic sampling along stream mainstems. This opportunity provides hands-on experience with field ecology and watershed science in a mountainous forest ecosystem.
